Mexicana airlines are indeed one of the oldest air lines established in the us, dating back to early 1920s. The initial reason had been purely business related, i.e. to transport engineers to and from the gulf of mexico in a bi plane. Over the decades, it has grown to become an organization with a fleet of 64 air crafts.

The most happening years so far for the mexicana airlines have been the 1990s and the early 2000s. Late 1990s saw a decline in the airline business post nine eleven but not mexicana airlines. The business boomed, unlike the 1980s, when the business was static. In 1990s, mexicana airlines also left Star Alliance in order to extend relationships with other airlines, most of which belong to the one world group.
The most interesting feature perhaps of the mexicana airlines, is the cabin structure of its airlines. With clase ejecutiva and clase turista, the airline has its priorities in the right order.
Apart from the domestic class, like every other airline, the mexicana airlines too have a business class and the executive class, only it chooses to call it in the way it deems the best. And apart from the usual division, it has a cabin division for particularly the tourist populace. No wonder the airline is so popular with the tourists.

The executive class is aptly named the clase ejecutiva, and is a facility available on all the flights of mexicana airlines, and that includes domestic as well as international ones. There are basically 2 types of meal options offered, one to a flight of air time shorter than 45 minutes, and the other one to the flights of an air time longer than 45 minutes.

The flights of shorter air borne duration are offered one warm mile and 1-2 snacks during their flight. The flights with longer duration offer a selection of warm meals through out the flight in addition to various options of snacks, and we are not talking about tex mex here of course. The meal options aboard mexicana airlines include burrito with carnitas and cemitas as the main option and other main courses choices have chilaquiles as well as chilorio. There are snacks like bolillos and guacamole too. Then of course, there is the endless supply of papas and salsa. Flights with one or more touch downs are offered mescal or tequila as well. Talk about some meal!

The in flight entertainment options include personal tv as well as an option of watching/listening to 10 different channels, and this is all in addition to the big LCD in the flight. And this was just the clase ejecutiva. Let’s hear from turista.
In clase turista of the mexicana airlines, if the duration of the flight is more than an hour, there are free warm burritos and carnitas available too, as well as a not ending supply of cemitas and salsa. The passengers are actually offered ipods during the flight. The seats have a recharging jacket for those who have their own ipods, and the ipods provided by the mexicana airlines is loaded with mexican songs and movies. The next thing to be expected on these ipods soon enough are some of the NBCs top sitcoms.

Then there is the lounge of the mexicana airlines, called adequately the salon ejecutiva. The lounge is a part of many air ports including international ones as well.

Earlier, cargo mexicana was a subsidiary of the airline. However the association ended in the late 1990s and since then mexicana airlines has been associated with click mexicana.  This click mexicana was called airocaribe earlier.

Truly, flying with the mexicana airlines is an experience of life time.
