Spain is 1 place everyone dreams of visiting. What better way to visit the place other than flying on the flight which carries the national flag of spain itself? Yes the iberia airlines. For people native to Europe, iberia air is not an alien name. The airline is based in Madrid and had begun as Spain’s very own airline, to transport within Spain, taking care of the in-land flights, both chartered and scheduled as well as cargo flights.

Today however, the airline is basically covering a large extensive international network, covering all the lucrative routes and is a symbol of pride for the Spaniards all over the world. The quality of services offered aboard are not the only reason of this pride but the fact that iberia airline came out when other countries of europe were content with just one common airline, is also one reason.

Iberia Airlines are not the only airlines operated by the iberia group, but there is another airline called the iberia regional, which is also operated under the flag of iberia group. Unlike other airlines where all the services are headed by different organizations, things are run in a totally different manner in the iberia airlines. Here the iberia group is in-charge of all the task aboard. From airport handling to the maintenance and servicing of the aircraft, iberia group has ventured into all the germane arenas. In fact, even the IT system of the flights is taken care of by the Iberia group.

Most of the european flights take catering by different companies. However the iberia airline is catered by the in-flight catering services provided by none other than the iberia group itself. Maybe because of the loyalty in its nationals, or the excellent planning and running f matters or the quality of service, but 2008 has been the 11th consecutive year of profits for the iberia airlines, and 13th for the iberia group in general.

This is one of the very few airlines whose fate has not been affected by the nine eleven at all. The profits graphs show that. The achievement nonetheless is rare. At present, the iberia air has over 102 destinations in 38 countries, other than Spain itself. Iberia airlines began right after the world war I,  that means even before the british airlines. The plan was inland flights of spain and few other intra-europe flights.

Initially the airline was being for postal transport between Madrid and Barcelona. Post-Spanish Civil war, it truly took the form of a domestic airline, flying people to different destinations. However still it was considered a general interest public utility. The nationalization of iberia airlines happened more than 2 decades later, after the world war II. This was followed by commencement of trans-atlantic flights between US and Spain. In order to promote business, the Iberia group had the bill passed, eliminating the necessity of a spanish visa for us citizens. This resulted in flourishing business as american flew in large numbers to spain to see the european history and its glory.

However all this popularity and glory did not spoil the golden hearts of the minds at the centre of the iberia group as they started showing interest in building other spanish airlines as well as airlines for Latin America, other than the iberia airline itself. Due to its belief in allies, it allied with us airlines, british airways as well as one-world group. This too demonstrates the broad-minded policies of the iberia airlines.

This open-minded modus operandi has also been the cause of the prosperity of the iberia group and the belief in working with all, together as a unitary force. This approach has resulted in proliferation of airline industry in general.
