Expressjet airlines was one of it’s kind at the time of its establishment. Until then, regional airlines were not in trend exactly. Even expressjet airlines had begun as an assemble of a large number of small commuter air planes, with its base at Texas.

Just last year we saw a change in the schedule of express jet airlines, when it has begun point to point routes. The airline has 24 destinations with in the US, and a fleet of 274.

Expressjet airlines is one of the few airlines who have always reported profit, whether it was nine eleven or the 90s asian crises. However the fuel price sky rocketing this year had even express jet airlines change their usual policies.
In a press conference early this year, it was decided by the board of governors, that keeping the rates of fuel and the expected shortage, express jet will be cutting up to 30 % of its usual summer flights but unlike other flights, it will not be deploying or sending any of its staff on compulsory leave. The airline will continue non stop flights to 20 destinations and their schedule will not be affected in any way. Also none of the non stop flights will suffer the cutting down of the routes.
The management of expressjet airlines was noticing the un ethical and dumb way in which other airlines were letting go of their learned loyal employees. This was creating unrest and mistrust amongst years old employees, and was indirectly affecting the outcomes and the user experience. This was not acceptable at any cost and hence the management decided to take things in hands.
The press conference was received warmly, as people gathered to clarify the matters. This also created a positive aura amongst other airlines as they all called for press releases on the similar fashion as that of express jet airlines.
Where some airlines are expanding, not all can continue to do so at the expense of their existing budget and hence some steps are necessary. However, this does not intimate that the employees should suffer the wrath of the giants, or even if they have to, they should be let off with a proper decorum, and full protocol.
This was not the first time expressjet airlines took an initiative in such an issue. This has happened before as well. One particularly memorable incident was when express jet had publically endorsed and accepted the provision of commercial flights under the brand name of continental express and delta connection. Until then, no one except for express jet airlines had dared to do this.
In spite of being a regional airline, express jet still has cabin divisions and they would not be affected by the cessation of certain routes. On the contrary, there will be more economic expressjet airlines flying in the US, in order to compensate for the lack of other routes. Also, all the summer packages and holiday deals announced at the end of last year, for this year, will continue. No packages will be shelved. For those who had prior reservations on any of the express jet airlines flights cancelled, will be fully reimbursed or booked on another flight with comparable air fare.
Express jet went through all these pains in order to exhibit the concern it feels, and to re-establish that feeling of loyalty amongst its employees and its customers.
